After adding one of the best WR's in the NFL, the Dolphins will now try to fill some of the remaining holes on the roster through trades, free agency and draft. Right now, the Dolphins have needs at FS, NT, OLB and LG.
There have been speculations that the Dolphins are interested in adding DE/OLB Osi Umenyiora as a replacement for Joey Porter. Osi started 11 games for the Giants last season and did not contribute a whole lot for them. He finished the season with 29 tackles, 7 sacks and 4 forced fumbles. I do see the trifecta pulling the trigger on him, however, I do not see them giving away anymore key draft picks. They could give them the fifth round pick they gained from the niners on the Ginn trade. Also they could swap draft picks with the Giants. If the price for Osi is too high, the trifecta would rather look for a pass rusher through the draft since this year's draft is very talented on defence.
For the FS spot, OJ Atogwe is still available but he would be too pricey for Miami right now. Darren Sharper is also another option but he still waits for New Orleans to put an offer on the table. Another option the Dolphins have that I have not heard anyone talking about is bringing Sean Smith to the FS position. Will Allen is expected to be healthy at the beginning of the season and he could be Smith's replacement at corner. Allen, Smith Bell and Davis could be a very solid secondary if the Dolphins could find a great chemistry between them on training camp.
Now let's talk about NT. As we all know, Jason Fergunson is suspended for the first eight games of the season. Paul Soliai is a very average NT. One option the Phins could look on would be Shaun Rogers from the Browns. He had some off-season incidents but he would be an upgrade to the roster since he is a very good 3-4 NT.
