Jared Odrick pick analysis

I personally loved that the Dolphins got their 2nd round pick back. I didn't love their first pick but I did like it. Teams are usually supposed to get a true starter in the first round. The Dolphins just added another player to a D-line which is already pretty darn good. Well, they must have a plan as always, right? Here are some Draft analysis from poeple that are smarter than me ;D
[UPDATE] Miami Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland has announced that Randy Starks is the new NT for the Dolphins. Well, they had a plan, didn't they? Great work.

From NFL.com: The Dolphins needed to add more beef to their front line, and the selection of Jared Odrick gives them size at the defensive end position. As the "five-technique" in the Dolphins' 3-4, Odrick has the length to occupy blockers on the edge, and his relentless style often leads to disruptive plays at the line of scrimmage. With Mike Nolan slated to tweak the team's defense, Odrick could be a key cog as an interior defender.

From ESPN.com: Odrick is a unique prospect who does not have a great fit anywhere, but he could work out as a 5-technique in the Dolphins' 3-4 front. He has great initial quickness and a relentless motor, and he shows the ability to stick his feet in the ground and regain leverage to anchor against double-teams. While he needs polish as a pass-rusher, he provides depth on the Dolphins' front line.

From Armando Salguero's Blog: High motor. Good inside pass-rusher. High character. Very powerful. Productive. Explosive. Versatile.
That's how Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland describes first-round pick Jared Odrick.
Versatility is apparently very important because Odrick projects as either an inside player or an outside player. Amazingly, the Dolphins didn't want to say which one Thursday.
"He's going to play inside or outside," Ireland said. "We'll let the coaches decide that. We've got a pretty good vision for him . We think he can play both inside and outside. I don't really want to get into where we're going to play the kid right this minute. You'll soon enough where he'll be playing."
